Quincy University issued the following announcement on Aug. 13
The Quincy University campus will come alive on Sunday, August 15, as first-year students begin to arrive for their Move-In Weekend and Orientation.
Designed for new students to become better acclimated to campus life, Orientation is the first step to success at QU. Through a series of sessions, students are introduced to the QU House System and learn about service learning, staying healthy, resources for success in the classroom and services available on campus. The QU House System begins its second year, designed to transform the student experience at the university, with each QU student becoming part of a close-knit house community.
One of the many resources first-year students have is the Orientation leaders that help guide them through their first week on campus. The leaders help students navigate the campus and are available to field questions and concerns. During Orientation, students will participate in team-building activities like Camp QU and The Amazing Hawk Race. QU Life Hacks is a day of sessions designed by upperclassmen to give new students tools to navigate their first year at QU.
New and returning students will enjoy a fairly normal experience this semester on campus including, meals in the cafeteria and access to campus activities. Normal, pre-pandemic layouts have been returned to classrooms, and normal seating has been re-established in the cafeteria. Masks are required indoors and in public settings for unvaccinated students. Fully vaccinated students are required to wear a mask in the classroom when the risk of COVID-19 transmission in Adams County is high or substantial. Whether vaccinated or not, all students are required to wear a mask while on a campus shuttle or bus and when using campus health services.
Quincy University continues to enhance the Success by Design initiative that provides each student with an individualized success plan and a series of university-wide programs to help students graduate on time and be fully prepared for careers or further education. Students will be welcomed back with a variety of facility enhancements completed over the summer break. This includes the newly constructed Brenner Library entrance steps and landing, remodeled Friars Hall lobby, the new Business Analytics Lab in Francis Hall and exterior in front of Garner Hall.
Returning QU students will begin checking in on Saturday, August 21 and classes start at 8 am on Monday, August 23. Official enrollment numbers will be released following the add/drop period on Tuesday, August 25.
