Several lawmakers from Illinois and even one from Missouri traveled to Quincy to speak with senior nursing students during a "Lunch with Our Legislators" event.
State Sen. Jil Tracy (R-Quincy), state Rep. Randy Frese (R-Quincy), and Missouri state Rep. Greg Sharpe (R-Clark) visited students from the Blessing-Rieman College of Nursing and Health Sciences to talk about pending laws pertaining to health care and answer their questions.
"The college's students typically travel to the State Capitol when the General Assembly is in session to talk with lawmakers about legislation that affects health care professions," Tracy wrote in an April 12 post on her Facebook page. "This year, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the lawmakers met with the college's students in Quincy."
The students asked questions about the status of current legislation being talked about in the state House and Senate, WGEM reported.
Tracy told WGEM that the nurse staffing ratio is always a "hot topic" and it was no different this time around.
She encouraged the students to visit the Illinois General Assembly web site to check on the progress on any legislation they might be interested in.
