Quincy University issued the following announcement on Mar. 9.
Several works of Quincy University’s Robert Lee Mejer, distinguished professor of art, have been selected for international and national exhibitions.
Mejer was awarded the Ed and Carol Thomason $500 Cash Award for Abstract for his watercolor “Variant: The Dance Around.” California artist, Katherine Chang Liu, selected this piece for inclusion in the 12th Annual Signature American Watermedia International Exhibition-World of Watercolor 2021, at Fallbrook Art Center, Calif. This competition is only open to signature members of watercolor societies. The exhibit is available online at www.fallbrookartcenter.org through April 11, 2021.
Jo Banister, exhibitions program manager at the Indianapolis Art Center, selected Mejer’s monotype assemble graph prints “Shuffle Dance” and “Variant 1- PC #26” for showing in the Indianapolis Art Center’s exhibition New Editions: a Printmaking Exhibition. The exhibit runs from February 12 – April 7, 2021.
International watercolorist John Salminen, selected Mejer’s watercolor “Variant: Newborn” for inclusion in the Georgia Watercolor Society 2021 National Exhibition at the Carrollton Center for the Arts in Carrollton, Ga. The exhibit runs from April 5 – May 14, 2021.
International jurors, Mark Mehaffey and Brenda Swenson selected Mejer’s watercolor “Variant: Equilibrium” for inclusion in the 45th Transparent Watercolor Society of American Juried Exhibition at the Kenosha Public Museum, in Kenosha Wis. from May 1 – August 1, 2021.
Mejer has been a distinguished professor of art, Gray Gallery Curator and Art Program coordinator at Quincy University since 1968. He is an Illinois artist, painter, printmaker, juror and visiting artist.
