BLESSING HEALTH SYSTEM: Blessing Express Clinic opens January 4 replacing Flu-Like Illness Screening Center

Blessing Health System issued the following announcement on Dec. 30.

Accessing routine medical care gets more convenient when Blessing Physician Services opens a new drive through health clinic in Quincy at 8 am, Monday, January 4. Blessing Express Clinic is in the former Sears auto center at the Quincy Mall, 420 N. 34th Street. Appointments are needed to be seen at the Clinic. The phone number to make an appointment beginning Monday will be 217-277-3504.

Blessing Express Clinic will see patients with upper respiratory issues and provide COVID-19 testing, as has been provided at the health system’s Flu-Like Illness Screening Center at 28th and Chestnut in Quincy since the pandemic began in March. The Flu-Like Illness Screening Center closes for good at 2 pm, Sunday, January 3.

“We created the Flu-Like Illness Screening Center as the pandemic hit the region to better separate people with potentially contagious respiratory conditions from people with other healthcare needs, for the physical safety and emotional and psychological comfort of all who needed care,” said Joseph Lane, MD, medical director, Blessing Walk-In Clinic and Convenient Care. Dr. Lane also served as medical director of the Flu-Like Illness Screening Center and will add the Blessing Express Clinic to his responsibilities.

“What we’ve heard from our patients over the past nine months is how much they also appreciate the convenience of having a drive-through option for minor healthcare needs when they aren’t feeling well,” he concluded. “Blessing Express Clinic provides a conveniently-located and even more efficient space in which to provide that care.”

Blessing Express Clinic will feature four drive-through lanes and three traditional examination rooms for care that cannot be delivered in a drive-through setting, or for the care of those who arrive at the clinic by public transportation, bicycle or on foot. The clinic will be open 8 am-to-8 pm, Monday-Friday, and 8 am-to-5 pm on Saturdays and Sunday.

Care at Blessing Express Clinic is by appointment. Call the Blessing Health System COVID-19 Hotline at 217-277-3504. Listen to and follow the directions on the Hotline to receive an appointment. During that call you will be told what drive-through lane to use on the north side of the building when arriving at the clinic.
