Adams County Board Executive Committee met Aug. 3.

Here is the minutes provided by the committee:

The Adams County Board Executive Committee held the regularly scheduled meeting via Zoom Conference.

The following members were present:

R. Kent Snider

Bret Austin

Rebecca Weed

Barney Bier

Les Post

Others present:

Gary Farha

Ryan Niekamp

Sue Hester

The meeting was called to order at 5:30 p.m. by Mr. Snider

Mr. Austin made a motion to approve the July 6, 2020 meeting minutes. Mrs. Weed seconded the motion. The meeting minutes were approved.

Mr. Post provided the committee with an update on the IT department, and a recent meeting with Adams. Adams will be providing IT support to the County’s Helpdesk staff on an hourly basis. This will be reevaluated after 90 days to determine if additional staffing is necessary.

The committee discussed the Election Day holiday bill passed by the General Assembly in May. The committee agreed to table this until September’s meeting.

Mr. Niekamp reported no updates on the topic of DEVNET Software Agreement.

Mr. Bier made a motion that if the County has received funds from the State for the salary increases for both the States Attorney and Public Defender, then the increases shall be applied to both positions. Mr. Austin seconded the motion. The motion carries.

Mrs. Hester provided labor updates. Her office has facilitated 2 union grievances, an unemployment hearing, several new workers compensation claims and an IL OSHA audit. She is hiring a temp receptionist to help limit the public from entering the West 5th Street entrance of the Courthouse during Judge Larson’s administrative order due to COVID. Mrs. Hester is also overseeing the IT department with 3 Helpdesk staff members and has been working with Adams to develop long-term projects.

Mr. Post made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Mr. Austin seconded the motion. Chairman Snider adjourned the meeting at 6:15 p.m.
