Adams County Board Legislative & Judicial Committee met May 5.

Here is the minutes provided by the committee:

The following members were present:

The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by Raquel Piazza.

The committee reviewed bills and stamped as “Checked.”

Mrs. Bockhold made a motion to approve the minutes from the March 3, 2020 meeting (no April meeting due to COVID-19). Mr. Duesterhaus seconded the motion. The minutes were approved.

Mr. Duesterhaus complimented the Adams County Together (ACT) group, that he supports opening Adams County in a slow fashion, helping small businesses open, and kids need to get back to school.

Re-Appointment to the Ursa Street Light District for Scott A. Wray for a 2020-2023 term starting on May 4, 2020. Mrs. Bockhold made a motion to approve the re-appointment. Mr. Hinkamper seconded the motion. The motion carries.

Mr. Niekamp proposed to extend the deadline for existing liquor licenses from June 30 to August 31. In addition, he recommended a one-time fee reduction from $200 to $150. Ms. Piazza stated that any little economic help to businesses right now she supports. Mr. Duesterhaus made a motion to approve the extension and reduction in fee. Mr. Hinkamper seconded the motion. The motion carries.

Mr. Farha reported that he lost his docket system called Justware and will need to request an additional expenditure to purchase a new system for $40,000. He also would like to propose to the General Assembly allowing a one-time clearance to use special use funds for salaries to keep his staff working in the event of a county-wide furlough. He will speak to Randy Frese and Jill Tracy.

Mr. Duesterhaus made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Mrs. Bockhold seconded the motion. Ms. Piazza adjourned the meeting at 6:18 p.m.
