Blessing Health System issued the following announcement on June 18.
Chassidy Schroder, RN, Blessing Home Care, became the 51st Blessing nurse to receive the international DAISY Award. She received the award during a ceremony on June 11, 2020.
Through the DAISY award program, patients or their family members, visitors, doctors, hospital staff members or volunteers may recognize the extraordinary care provided by nurses.
Chassidy was nominated by the wife of a man to whom she provided care. The man, who lives with Alzheimer’s disease, had suffered a heart attack and required home care. The nomination stated:
“Chassidy is well educated and is able to bring that information to us in words we understand. She is very considerate and very gentle with his physical exams. We trust her and we know she is always there for us even in an emergency.”
“With my husband’s condition, he has good days and bad days. She uplifts us in a very positive way. Nothing negative, always positive. And that makes us feel better. Thank you Chassidy-you are the best,” the nomination concluded.
DAISY stands for “Diseases Attacking the Immune System.” The family of a 33-year- old man, who died of an immune system disorder, began the program in 1999 to honor his memory by recognizing extraordinary nurses everywhere who make a difference in the lives of people by the work they do every day. More than 4,000 healthcare providers worldwide participate in the DAISY Award program.
