Modifications to Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker's stay-at-home order will lift some restrictions for local retailers.

According to KHQA, the owner of For Home and Her in downtown Quincy said his store has had to adapt to restrictions of the COVID-19 pandemic. Chris Taylor also said he has changed his business model to allow for compliance with the governor's mandated curbside pickup.

As the coronavirus situation progress, the store continues to develop new ways to avoid human-to-human contact, according to KHQA.

"Some of them are not so excited about ordering online," Taylor said. "They really love that personal interaction. We're looking at ways where we can do that safely while following the upcoming orders."

With constant changes, many local retail businesses have remodeled their businesses around the internet to help customers and clients place orders.

"We never had an intention to be an online store," Taylor said. "It's not part of our business model, but when things change we have to adapt."

For Home and Her is now letting customers shop online through Facebook.

Keeping local retail stores alive through the pandemic is up to the local communities, Quincy Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Latonya Brock told KHQA.

"Please keep the money here local and support our businesses because we are going to be OK," Brock said. "People hear me say this all the time. We will see the other side of this, but during this we want to rise to the challenge and support our local economy so we can thrive as much as possible in challenging times."
