BLESSING HEALTH SYSTEM: Blessing nurse earns national certification in diabetes care and education

Award

Blessing Health System issued the following announcement on March 10.

Dawn Crabtree, BSN, RN, Blessing Diabetes Center, has earned Certified Diabetes Care and Educational Specialist (CDCES) status from the National Certification Board for Diabetes Educators.

Requirements for certification include a minimum of two years professional practice experience as a registered nurse, at least 1,000 hours of diabetes education experience with 40 percent in the most recent year preceding application, and passage of a written examination.

Crabtree is a 15 year member of the Blessing Hospital nursing staff, with previous experience in the intermediate care unit and outpatient surgery before joining the Blessing Diabetes Center. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Chamberlain College and an Associate Degree in Nursing from John Wood Community College.

Crabtree is a member of American Diabetes Association, the American Association of Diabetes Educators, the American Nurses Association and the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.
