QUINCY AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE: Quincy Farm Products to be honored at Ag Banquet

Awardceremony

Quincy Area Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Feb. 17.

Quincy Farm Products will be honored as the Quincy Area Chamber of Commerce Agribusiness of the Year and Amy Lucie will be honored as the Larry Fischer Ag Educator of the Year at the First Bankers Trust Ag Banquet on Tuesday, March 10, at Town and Country Inn & Suites.

Quincy Farm Products was established in July of 2014 and formed as a partnership between Quincy Recycle Paper, Inc. and the President of Quincy Farm Products, Jerrod Evans. Quincy Farm Products is a commercial livestock feed company with business headquarters and all processing operations located at 3501 Wisman Lane. The business produces commercial feed products as well as Quincy Farm Products branded ingredient products that are used in livestock feed rations for beef, dairy and swine species. One of the many things that makes Quincy Farm Products unique from other “run of the mill” feed mills is the fact that Quincy Farm Products sources its feed ingredients from the food manufacturing industry. Rather than the traditional and common corn and soybean meal blends, Quincy Farm Products recycles and repurposes food products of all kinds into its livestock feed and ingredient products. Quincy Farm Products’ customer base today consists of local cattle producers, large feedlot operations, dairy operations of all sizes, integrated swine production companies, as well as major commercial feed companies and feed mills and producers located throughout the central United States. Their customers today range from local cattle producers to large feedlots and dairies as well as major feed companies, integrated swine production companies and feed mills throughout the central United States. Today, approximately 40 employees make up the Quincy Farm Products team that strives each day to produce quality products for their customers.

Since 2001, Amy Lucie has taught 108 different ag and ag-related classes at Unity High School in Mendon. These include Introduction to Ag, Plant Science, Animal Science, Ag Mechanics. Horticulture, Agribusiness, and Middle School Ag. Through her classes and her role as the advisor for the Unity-Mendon FFA Chapter, Lucie has positively influenced hundreds of youth from northern Adams County. Lucie and her husband Adam live near Basco with children Ethan and Jonathan.

Since 2000, the Chamber has given an Agribusiness of the Year Award to emphasize the importance of the agriculture industry on the stability of our local economy. The Larry Fischer Ag Educator of the Year Award, established in 2015, honors an individual who has made an impact on students and the future of agriculture. The Ag Educator of the Year Award is co-sponsored by John Wood Community College Ag Alumni.

Keynote speaker is Rita Frazer, president of the National Farm Broadcasting Association. Frazer has led the RFD Radio Network for the Illinois Farm Bureau as director of network and audio services since January 2015. She joined the RFD team in 2011, first serving as network anchor and broadcast editor.

The Ag Banquet is sponsored by First Bankers Trust Company, Commerce Bank, Compeer Financial, Doyle Equipment Manufacturing Co., Farm & Home Supply, Herald-Whig, Quincy Farm Products, Quincy Tractor, Selby Implement Co., Ursa Famers Co-op, U.S. Wellness Meats, TI-TRUST, Inc., and the John Wood Community College Ag Alumni.
