BLESSING HEALTH SYSTEM: Cashier earns Honey Bee Award

Blessing Health System issued the following announcement on Dec. 10.

Tammy Haggerty, cafeteria assistant, Food & Nutrition, became the 19th Blessing Hospital caregiver to receive the Honey Bee Award in a surprise presentation on Thursday, December 5.

Tammy received two nominations. The following is an excerpt from the nomination of a person who was visiting the Blessing cafeteria for the first time.

“I heard her ask an elderly man if he needed help getting his food back to the table. She was so kind to him. She asked if she could help him get his sandwich out of the package and then did just that. She helped him get settled and then went back to checking people out. A couple of minutes later she came back around with a handful of napkins. She asked if he could get his mayonnaise packet open and then helped him do that, too. I just couldn’t help thinking she is a rare person who really truly enjoys helping people.”

The second nomination came from the staff of 6 South/Pediatrics, recognizing Tammy for her “contagiously positive attitude.”

“No matter what kind of mood you come in to work with, Tammy is sure to make you happy. Tammy always has the most beautiful smile and always gives the best hugs! Tammy make every day a little brighter.”

Honey Bee honorees personify Blessing Hospital’s remarkable patient experience. The Honey Bee Award complements the DAISY Award. While the DAISY Award is for RNs, the Honey Bee Award is for support staff because, “you can’t have daisies without outstanding honey bees.”

Each Honey Bee Award honoree is recognized during a presentation. They receive a certificate, a tray of sticky buns, cookies and a jar of local honey. The local honey signifies the role support staff plays in extraordinary patient care and customer service; they are the “sticky” honey that binds us together.

Honey Bee award nomination forms are located on all nursing units and other locations throughout Blessing Hospital. You can also visit our Recognize A Team Member page to fill out nominations online.
