QUINCY UNIVERSITY: QU Approved as a Gateways to Opportunity Entitled Institution

Announcement

Quincy University issued the following announcement on July 10.

Quincy University is pleased to announce that it is an approved Gateways to Opportunity Entitled Institution. An Entitled Institution is an accredited college or university who has aligned their coursework with Gateways Credential requirements, ensuring that required competencies are introduced, developed and assessed in each course.

Gateways to Opportunity, the Illinois Professional Development System, supports those working in the field of early care and education through this credentialing system. Gateways Credentials are symbols of professional achievement that demonstrate knowledge, skills and experience in caring for and educating young children. Credentials are awarded and recognized by the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS) Bureau of Child Care and Development. To learn more visit www.ilgateways.com/credentials.

“QU’s program utilizes the Professional Development School (PDS) model, which means candidates spend time in actual classrooms, working with children and other professionals, in almost every course they take,” said Julia Auch, Ph.D., early childhood education coordinator. “This hands-on approach allows the bridging of theory with practice, making our program unique.”

Early childhood professionals who are seeking a Level 2, 3, 4 or 5 ECE Credential, specifically for those working with children from birth through age 8, are encouraged to complete their coursework at Quincy University. The university accepts the Gateways to Opportunity Scholarship, available to those who have worked in a year-round program for at least a year, providing up to 100% tuition coverage.
