Handshake03

Quincy University issued the following announcement on June 21.

Quincy University has announced that Phil Conover will assume the role of President Emeritus on July 1, 2019. The honor comes in recognition of Conover’s outstanding, distinguished and extended service to the University community. Conover has faithfully served the University as a volunteer, trustee, chief operating officer, and president.

“We are honored that Phil has agreed to serve in the emeritus capacity and maintain his connection to the University and its constituents,” said Del Mitchell, chair of the QU Board of Trustees. “As we get set to welcome Dr. Brian McGee as our new president, I am confident that he and Phil will work closely in continuing to move the University forward.”

President Emeritus status is reserved to honor a University president who is retiring or has retired and has provided outstanding and distinguished service to the University. The current University president may call upon the President Emeritus to provide counsel, to serve in various volunteer roles and capacities in support of the University and to represent QU in the absence of or accompany the president with donor and alumni relations.

“For decades, Phil Conover has been an educational, business and community leader in Quincy, and the entire region should be grateful for his service. Phil has been a singularly successful president of Quincy University and is richly deserving of the honor of an emeritus title,” said Dr. Brian McGee, Quincy University’s 24th president. “I cannot imagine a better ambassador for Quincy University than Phil Conover.

“I count Phil as a mentor and friend, and I know all of us will benefit from his wise and thoughtful counsel for many years to come.”
