According to the 2015-2020 Dietary Guidelines, moderate consumption of caffeine – up to 400 mg per day – can be incorporated into a healthy eating plan. That’s about the amount in 3 - 5 8-oz. cups of coffee. This amount of caffeine has not been linked to an increased risk of disease or early death, but if you don’t already consume caffeine, you’re not encouraged to start.
