Operating Rooms to support all of our surgical specialties

Growing for the Greater Good Surgery Center Proposal And More

Outside of the Surgery Center proposal, there is also a planned Cancer Center with infusion therapy (chemotherapy) and radiation oncology in the same space. The Quincy Medical Group oncology team and all supporting services for a cancer center will be relocated to the Bergner’s building.

The Surgery Center is expected to go before the Health Facilities and Services Review Board (HFSRB) in early March 2019 for approval. If approved, the renovation will begin with an expected completion in 2020 or 2021.

An additional Surgery Center in Quincy provides many benefits to our patients, employees, and employers. Carol Brockmiller, Quincy Medical Group CEO, said, ‘This project is in response to patients and employers looking for high quality, cost-effective healthcare. We believe this investment provides an opportunity to increase accessibility for surgeries, procedures and oncology treatment and provides a transformative facility to ensure that the highest level of care is available in our community.’

Quincy Medical Group wants to lead the way for helping the region manage costs for outpatient surgeries, procedures and oncology care resulting in reduced healthcare spend for patients and employers.

Brockmiller said, ‘Utilizing the Bergner’s building for healthcare services enables Quincy Medical Group to re-purpose a space that is integral to the economic success of Quincy and avoids a vacancy. We are eager to join the mall campus businesses, and be good neighbors and business partners.’

This project will also replace lost tax revenues due to the Bergner’s closing. As one of the few privately owned, for-profit healthcare facilities in Quincy, Quincy Medical Group will support the community through additional tax revenue.

Brockmiller said, ‘As we considered this project, we spent a great deal of time and effort analyzing the impact the project may have on other healthcare facilities. Our analysis revealed that, based on historical trends, with continued growth in outpatient surgery, more facility capacity in the area is needed.’

Brockmiller continues, ‘Quincy Medical Group is committed to growing for the greater good of our community. Patients will be able to receive the same thoughtful, quality care they have come to expect from us. The Quincy Medical Group Surgery Center will be equipped with the latest technology, highly skilled and compassionate physicians and staff and expanded outpatient surgery hours. The Quincy Medical Group Cancer Center will take oncology care to a new level, and ensure that patients receive local care and have access to the latest cancer treatments, including clinical trials.’
