Quincy Junior High School reports 15% truancy rate

The truancy rate at Quincy Junior High School rose to 15 percent during the 2016-17 school year, according to a Quincy Reporter analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card.

The schools average daily attendance rate was 92 percent.

Students are considered chronically truant if they miss 5 percent of school days or more per year without acceptable excuses. The Quincy SD 172 saw a chronic truancy rate of 12 percent during the 2016-17 school year, while the statewide rate was 11 percent.

The school enrolled 1,388 students in the 2016-17 school year, and average daily attendance was at 92 percent for the year, the Illinois State Board of Education reported. The average daily rate of attendance across the state was 94 percent.
