Payson Community Unit School District 1 Board of Education met June 20.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

CALL TO ORDER Lisa Schwartz, president, called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

ROLL CALL Brian Ippensen, acting secretary, called roll with the following members present: Chanse Barker, Jeff Hull, Brian Ippensen, Lisa Schwartz, Vinson Sill and Shannon Triplett. Krista Bangert was absent.

Also present were Donna Veile and Nancy Cromie.

VISITORS Shelly Flesner and Greg Ehrhardt

PUBLIC Greg Ehrhardt, from Richards Electric, addressed the board regarding the HVAC electrical analysis.

TECHNOLOGY There was discussion on the updated chromebook policy agreement. There was no public comment on CIPA.

CONSENT AGENDA Triplett made a motion to approve the consent agenda. Hull seconded the motion. AYE: Barker, Hull, Ippensen, Sill, Triplett and Schwartz NAY: None

Barker left at 7:36.

SUPERINTENDENT Donna Veile shared information regarding school safety and school violence protocol meetings, school registration dates, Chicago board conference and food product pricing. There was an update on insurance. A summary of the finance committee and curriculum committee was shared.

FY19 AMENDED BUDGET Triplett made a motion to open a hearing on the FY19 amended budget. Ippensen seconded the motion. AYE: Hull, Ippensen, Sill, Triplett and Schwartz NAY: None

There was no public comment.

Triplett made a motion to close the hearing. Sill seconded the motion. AYE: Ippensen, Sill, Triplett, Hull and Schwartz NAY: None

CHROMEBOOK POLICY AGREEMENT Triplett made a motion to approve the updated chromebook policy agreement. Sill seconded the motion. AYE: Sill, Triplett, Hull, Ippensen and Schwartz NAY: None

2019-20 MEETING DATES Ippensen made a motion to approve the 2019-20 meeting dates. Schwartz seconded the motion. AYE: Triplett, Hull, Ippensen, Sill and Schwartz NAY: None

2019-20 STUDENT HANDBOOKS Ippensen made a motion to approve the second reading of the student handbooks. Sill seconded the motion. AYE: Hull, Ippensen, Sill, Triplett and Schwartz NAY: None

2019-20 ATHLETIC HANDBOOK Ippensen made a motion to approve the second reading of the 2019-20 athletic handbook as amended. Sill seconded the motion. AYE: Ippensen, Sill, Triplett, Hull and Schwartz NAY: None

6TH GRADE PARTICIPATION Ippensen made a motion to approve the 6th grade participation guidelines. Hull seconded the motion. AYE: Sill, Triplett, Hull, Ippensen and Schwartz NAY: None

K-6 ELA CURRICULUM Triplett made a motion to approve the new K-6 ELA curriculum. Sill seconded the motion. AYE: Triplett, Hull, Ippensen, Sill and Schwartz NAY: None

2019-20 SCHOOL FEES Ippensen made a motion to approve the 2019-20 school fees. Sill seconded the motion. AYE: Hull, Ippensen, Sill, Triplett and Schwartz NAY: None

CONSOLIDATED DISTRICT PLAN Ippensen made a motion to approve the Consolidated District Plan. Triplett seconded the motion. AYE: Ippensen, Sill, Triplett, Hull and Schwartz NAY: None

MOVE TO CLOSED SESSION Triplett made a motion to move into closed session for the purpose of discussing the employment of personnel, student matters, teacher contract negotiations and other items appropriate for closed session. Ippensen seconded the motion. AYE: Sill, Triplett, Hull, Ippensen and Schwartz NAY: None

Entered into closed session at 8:38 p.m.

RETURN TO OPEN SESSION Sill made a motion to return to open session. Triplett seconded the motion. AYE: Hull, Ippensen, Sill, Triplett and Schwartz NAY: None

Returned to open session at 9:50 p.m.

STUDENT DISCIPLINE Ippensen made a motion to approve the recommendation of administration regarding discipline for Students A, B and C. Sill seconded the motion. AYE: Triplett, Hull, Ippensen, Sill and Schwartz NAY: None

PERSONNEL ADDENDUM Triplett made a motion to approve the personnel addendum. Ippensen seconded the motion. AYE: Hull, Ippensen, Sill, Triplett and Schwartz NAY: None
